My dad took my family to see A Christmas Carol at the Hale Centre Theatre last week. I read this statement in the program. You might remember this man's story from a few years ago. He was driving his family home on Christmas Eve when they were hit by a drunk driver and his wife and two of his children were killed. This statement hit me so profoundly that I had to share. I truly believe this. We will never have a perfect understanding of the Atonement, but we can have glimpses as we allow ourselves to be healed through it, no matter our circumstances.

I got this in an email and they made me laugh . . . Enjoy!

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this -- ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Darn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How do I respond to that?

19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well..

20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

Man Caught Smuggling Pythons, Gekos

Kristiansand Regional Customs Service, APOSLO -- (AP) A man has been arrested in Norway trying to smuggle two dozen snakes and geckos into the country by hiding them under his clothes. Customs agent Helge Breilid said Monday the 22-year-old Norwegian citizen was apprehended in the southern town of Kristiansand after getting off a ferry from Hirtshals, Denmark. He said the man had 14 royal pythons and 10 albino leopard geckos under his clothes.

Breilid said the non-venomous snakes -- the smallest species in the python family -- were hidden in stockings duct-taped to the man's abdomen. The geckos were in boxes taped to his thighs.

Customs officials found the reptiles, which are not endangered, Sunday during a search following the discovery of a tarantula in one of the man's bags.

What Matters Most

Recently, I've been following two blogs. One is written by a woman whose husband was killed in a plane crash in August of 2008 (link). The other was written by a woman who as battling cancer (link). She had a husband and three small children, and sadly lost that battle. Life can change so quickly, with or without warning. I've always had a knowledge of what truly does matter, why I'm here, where I'm going, ect. But reading some of these posts has literally been a life-changing experience for me. Sometimes I get caught up in the day to day things, and forget how truly blessed I am. I tend to focus on what is wrong, rather than what is amazingly right in my life, and in the lives of those close to me. I hope I can not just always remember, but cherish and savor, what truly mattes most!

I was trying to be really thrifty, so when I got some ads in the mail the other day, I meticulously went through them and clipped the coupons I thought I could use. I even put a little star to remind me by the items that I had a coupon for on my shopping list (I'm a HUGE list girl). It wasn't until I got home that I realized that the coupons were still safely tucked away in my wallet! And I must admit that's not the first time it's happened (or the second)!! Tell me I'm not the only one...

On another note, our goldfish died. My four-year-old got a goldfish at our town's fair last Saturday. I knew it wouldn't live very long, but I couldn't stand to see it starve to death, so I told her we'd go to the store to get it some food. When I got home today, I opened the can of fish food and noticed the little guy wasn't moving too much. I was a little late...I'm feeling a little guilty for letting it starve to death! Sorry little man!! Now I have to break the news to her.

World Air Traffic

This is a 24-hour observation of all of the large aircraft flights in the world, condensed down to about 1 minute. From space we look like a beehive of activity.

The yellow dots are airplanes in the sky during a 24-hour period. Stay with the picture. You will see the light of day moving from the east to the west, as the Earth spins on its axis.

Also, you will see the aircraft flow of traffic leaving the North American continent and travelling at night to arrive in the UK in the morning. Then you will see the flow changing, leaving the UK in the morning and flying to the American continent in daylight.

You could tell it was summer time in the north by the sun’s footprint over the planet. You could see that it didn't quite set in the extreme north and it didn't quite rise in the extreme south.

I had no idea there were that many flights!!

Didn't summer JUST start? We finally have hot enough weather to swim, and they take it all away with back to school sales, and fall clothes on the racks.

This was my first thought when I walked into Wal-Mart today. However, as soon as I walked down the aisle, I instantly succumbed to my love of school supplies. I'm a sucker for it all. I'm certainly not ready for summer to be over, but I do love new pencils, pens, scissors, glue and everything else that goes along with going back to school!! I even bought a ruler that we totally don't need, but it was such a great deal, and an even greater color!

Nightmares

So, my 4 year old has started waking up crying and/or screaming in the middle of the night saying she's had a bad dream. It is getting to be an almost nightly occurance. One time, I was locked in a cage and she and my 2 year old couldn't get to me. Another time, she had a dream about a crocodile who bit off my leg (try not to laugh). Any suggestions on helping her? I'm sure it's a phase and will pass, but what have you done for your kids?

Cleaning the Microwave

My good friend Tesha let me in on this little secret, and I've been meaning to share it for awhile now. Who doesn't hate scrubbing out the microwave, right? Well . . . solution: fill a hot chocolate mug (this one happens to belong to Michael Scott) with water, and put it in on high for about 5 or 6 minutes. It will boil and bubble over, but everything gets so steamy, all the goop just wipes right out! It has changed my life :) Try it!

What kind of TV rules to you have for your kiddos? Also, those of you with small children, what do you do with them while you're trying to accomplish things around the house such as cleaning or fixing a meal? (You'd think I'd have these things figured out by now. I'm always open for suggestions, though.)

And, any suggestions on where I can find a good job chart?

Can you tell what kind of issues we're having at our house? Lazy days filled with too much TV! I really want to teach my kids to work, but its SOOOOO much easier and much faster for me to just do things myself. So I'm thinking I need a few suggestions to help me along my way! Anything will be appreciated. THANKS!
